White Paper for a Regional Policy on access to energy services: A Regional Policy to Increase Access to Modern Energy Services

The objective of the Regional Policy to Increase Access to Modern Energy Services is to enable at least half the population to have access to modern energy services by the year 2015. This means enabling 36 million more households and 49,000 extra localities to access modern energy services; a fourfold increase over the 2005 figure.

Line of action 1: Build capacities of public and private actors
Line of action 2 : Helps mobilize soft loans and foster the private investment in projects aimed at extending energy services to rural and peri-urban areas
Line of action 3 : Share, promote, and disseminate sub regional experiences relating to the supply of energy services in rural and peri-urban areas
Line of action 4 : Promote local production of energy goods and services
